DISRUPTED is a singular journey about the weight of one’s past and the impossible challenge to do right by it in the present, bound into a tight-knit thriller that festers in the collateral damage of gentrification and race-related tensions rooted in modern day Oakland.

Synopsis:

For longtime Oakland resident, PETE, survival is an endless struggle in a gentrified, tech-driven world that’s left him in its dust. But he’s clean and sober, has rectified a relationship with his daughter, and the memories of his wife’s unsolved murder from decades ago rarely haunt him these days. That is until a local killing is strikingly familiar. Reluctantly pulled back in by the retired detective who worked the original case, Pete again sets out to find his wife’s killer and is quickly consumed by his rekindled thirst for justice, a pursuit that cost him everything once before.

Our Story:

We are a group of seasoned filmmakers, having cut our teeth on a variety of commercials, branded content, narrative content, and more. This is our first feature film as a collective unit, and we were fortunate enough to have stumbled upon Realization Films, a film/finance production company that committed funds to get us through production. We started production on DISRUPTED three years ago and shot the movie during free weekends, scrambling between cast availability, family/kids, and our day jobs. We all wore multiple hats and our director, Andre Welsh, bled over this project. He put his heart and soul into it and nobody deserves a chance at success more than this guy.

Andre shot the movie for an incredibly small amount of money (you wouldn't believe us if we told you), pulling every favor possible during production. He is a Swiss Army knife of filmmaking, and he utilized every tool in his quiver. All the cast and crew worked for deferred pay and gave it their all, and can’t be more excited about how the film turned out.

KICKSTARTER

On August 21, we successfully launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for post-production of our feature film DISRUPTED. We exceeded our funding goal by 108% and are now in the final stages of post-production.
